Fish prices at Manonda Inpres Market in Palu City are beginning to show a stabilising trend after previously experiencing an increase. This condition is influenced by the addition of fish supplies from various regions.

Based on field observations, prices for several types of fish are now in the range of Rp50,000 per kilogram for katombo fish, Rp60,000 per kilogram for cakalang, and around Rp35,000 per kilogram for bandeng.

One trader, Haerul, revealed that fish prices had previously surged to Rp70,000 per kilogram due to limited stock in the market.

“Prices are starting to drop. Yesterday, they soared to Rp70,000 per kilogram because stocks were still low,” he said on Sunday (29/3).

A similar sentiment was expressed by another trader, Taufik. He stated that the previous rise in katombo fish prices had been a complaint from buyers, especially housewives.

“Yesterday, many buyers complained because katombo fish prices kept rising. Fortunately, they are starting to drop now,” he said.

According to Taufik, the price decrease was triggered by the influx of fish supplies from several regions, such as Donggala, Palu, and Gorontalo.

“Fish supplies are starting to come in from various regions, so prices are gradually dropping,” he explained.

The traders hope that fish supplies remain stable so that prices do not rise again, thereby maintaining community purchasing power. (H-2)
