Fish canning in Fak-fak

JAKARTA (JP): Private fishing company PT Samudra Citra Abadi will build a fish cannery in Fak-fak, Irian Jaya.

Fak-fak's district administration head, Suparlan Pasambuna, said yesterday the company had already cleared at least 100 hectares for the cannery.

The company, which exports all of its tuna, will can all of its catch at the cannery, he was quoted by Antara as saying.

He did not say how much the cannery would cost or when it would be operational.

Irian Jaya has fish canneries in Biak and Sorong. (bnt)
