Fischer to visit Indonesia
CANBERRA (Dow Jones): Trade Minister Tim Fischer on Friday announced he will visit some of Australia's major trading partners in South Asia and the Middle East in coming weeks.
The swing begins in Singapore with ministerial meetings Feb. 21-23 before moving on to Indonesia for more of the same on Feb. 23-25.
Fischer then travels to India Feb. 25-27 where he will co- chair with India's commerce minister the sixth meeting of the Australia-India joint ministerial commission, the principal mechanism for addressing bilateral trade and investment issues.
While there he also will sign a bilateral investment protection and promotion agreement.
He said in a statement that he hopes the visit will add impetus to what is an increasingly important and dynamic relationship with India.
Fischer travels to Dubai Feb. 27, then to Iran the same day for ministerial meetings through March 2 before flying to Turkey for talks on March 3-4.
