First Working Day After Eid, KRL Green Line Crowded with Passengers Again
South Tangerang, Kompas.com - The electric rail train (KRL) route from Rangkasbitung to Tanah Abang, known as the green line, was once again crowded with passengers on the first working day after the Eid holiday, Monday (30/3/2026). Based on observations by Kompas.com at Jurangmangu Station, crowds of passengers were already visible on the platform filled with prospective commuters. They arrived almost simultaneously, making platform one heading to Tanah Abang appear busy. When the train arrived, passengers immediately moved towards the carriage doors. Inside the carriages, the conditions were no less packed. Many passengers did not get seats and had to stand squeezed together, filling almost all available space. Some held onto handgrips, while others tried to maintain balance amid the crush. Activities such as using mobile phones or reading became limited due to the cramped space. Most passengers were workers returning to activities in the Jakarta area, particularly heading to the Tanah Abang district and surroundings. The passengers’ attire also appeared neat in casual work outfits, such as shirts, blouses, trousers, flat shoes, or clean sneakers. One passenger, Ridha (29), admitted to anticipating the passenger surge on the first day back to work after the Eid holiday. “It’s normal to be crowded after the Eid break,” said Ridha when met at Jurangmangu Station, Ciputat, South Tangerang, on Monday. He admitted to having difficulty entering the train carriage. This was because, when the train arrived, the prospective passengers waiting on the platform to Tanah Abang immediately approached the carriage doors.
