First WFH Day for Civil Servants, Public Service Offices in West Jakarta Operate Normally

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The implementation of a work-from-home (WFH) system for Civil Servants (ASN) in Jakarta every Friday does not disrupt public services at the Srengseng Community Health Centre and Srengseng Sub-District Office in Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Friday (10/4/2026).

Based on observations by Kompas.com at the location on Friday afternoon, public services at both government institutions continued to run as usual.

All counters at the Srengseng Community Health Centre remained operational without any reduction in staff numbers. From the entrance area, security personnel, to patient registration staff, everything operated normally without any issues.

A similar situation occurred at the Srengseng Sub-District Office, which continued to serve residents in handling various administrative needs. Chairs in the waiting room were filled with residents queuing to be called.

One resident and local neighbourhood association administrator, Nana Rostiana, who was handling population administration matters, said she experienced no service disruptions despite the WFH policy.

“In my opinion, as long as WFH is in place, it doesn’t disrupt services at all. Because it’s backed up by other colleagues, or as far as I know, no one in the service section is doing WFH, so everything runs smoothly,” said Nana when interviewed at the Srengseng Sub-District Office on Friday.

Nana emphasised that the presence of service staff is crucial for residents, given the many administrative matters that need to be facilitated by the sub-district office.

“If there’s no service, it would really be disrupted, hindered. Especially for important matters that need to be handled. But so far, services at Srengseng Sub-District specifically have no issues at all, because even if some are on WFH, there are other colleagues or services to back it up,” she added.

In response, the Secretary of Srengseng Sub-District, Dwi Indah Lestari, explained that in line with the policy and directives from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov), sectors directly interfacing with the public do not follow WFH.

Dwi assured that the Srengseng Sub-District Office continues to provide all forms of services, from online services, population affairs, to the One-Stop Integrated Services Office (PTSP).

“So all services continue to run. From Monday to Friday. And the hours are still the normal hours as usual,” she said.

Not only administrative matters, Dwi also assured that field services such as waste management and public order maintenance continue as normal.

“For waste, we already have the team, namely PPSU, and for public order (Trantibum), it’s the Civil Service Police Unit (Pol PP) and also assisted by the Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas), operating as usual patrolling the area. So waste collection or order in the area is not disrupted,” she explained.

Dwi urged the public not to hesitate or delay handling documents at the sub-district office during the ASN WFH period of the DKI Provincial Government.

“So don’t worry about this WFH; we at Srengseng Sub-District will continue to provide prime and effective services,” Dwi concluded.
