First verdicts on electoral dispute

JAKARTA: The Constitutional Court is scheduled to hand down its first verdicts on four separate electoral disputes involving candidates of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD).

The four cases are among 203 submitted by political parties and DPD candidates or elected members from across the country.

The law allocates a maximum of 30 days for hearings of electoral disputes.

Under existing laws, the verdict of the Constitutional Court is final and binding, meaning that it must be implemented by the General Elections Commission (KPU). --JP
