First Tarawih Prayers for Ramadan 2026 Begin Tonight Following Government's Official Determination
The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has conducted its isbat session to determine the start of 1 Ramadan 1447 H. The government has established that 1 Ramadan 2026, marking the beginning of the fasting month, falls on 19 February.
During the month of Ramadan, those observing the fast are strongly encouraged to perform Tarawih prayers. This act of worship is carried out on the nights of Ramadan after the Isya prayer and before the Witir prayer.
Typically, Tarawih prayers are held the evening before the first day of fasting. Accordingly, following the government’s determination, the first Tarawih prayers for Ramadan 2026 take place this evening, Wednesday 18 February 2026.
