First Mosque in 99 Asmaul Husna Waqf Programme Begins Construction in Aceh

Just one week after its official launch, Cinta Quran Foundation together with Yayasan Masjid Nusantara has officially commenced construction of the first mosque under the 99 Asmaul Husna Waqf Programme. The event was marked by the laying of the first stone for Masjid Ar-Rahman in Kampung Pematang Durian, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, on Sunday (19/7/2026). This swift action demonstrates the institution’s commitment to upholding the trust of the donors. The Grand Launching of the 99 Asmaul Husna Waqf Programme was previously held during the Amazing Muharram 15: Reset Your Life event in Jakarta on 12 July 2026. During that event, commitments for the waqf of 40 mosques, valued at IDR 20 billion, were collected in less than one hour. Masjid Ar-Rahman, formerly known as Masjid Babuttakwa, was chosen as the starting point because its construction was previously halted due to a natural disaster, leaving it underutilised by the local community. The rebuilding of this mosque is fully supported by BCA Syariah through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Ustaz Fatih Karim, Chairman and Founder of Cinta Quran Foundation, emphasised that the swift execution reflects the institution’s seriousness in safeguarding the good intentions of the faithful. ‘Alhamdulillah, it only took one week from the Amazing Muharram event for us to fulfil that trust. We are here in Aceh Tamiang to begin the construction of Masjid Ar-Rahman, the first of a target of 99 mosques to be established across Indonesia,’ he said. He added that this speed disproves the notion that realising donation commitments takes a long time. ‘Good intentions met with swift action will bring blessings to the community. The mosque is the central crucible of faith. It is our second home, a place to return and bid farewell before being presented to Allah SWT,’ Fatih added. Despite the rapid execution, the selection of mosque locations was not done haphazardly. Each site has undergone a rigorous and measured assessment process by the Yayasan Masjid Nusantara team as the implementing partner. This assessment includes evaluating technical feasibility, the level of urgency of local community needs, historical limitations of facilities, potential for utilisation, and the readiness of local residents to prosper the mosque. This is to ensure that every waqf fund is channelled appropriately and delivers maximum social and religious impact. The 99 Asmaul Husna Waqf Programme carries the mission of building or renovating houses of worship in various corners of Indonesia, especially in remote areas, disaster-prone regions, and areas lacking religious facilities. Each mosque will be named after one of the Asmaul Husna as a symbol of beauty and a reminder of the attributes of Allah SWT. Beyond just a physical structure, the programme is designed to foster a sustainable ecosystem of Islamic propagation and community empowerment. As of the first stone laying for Masjid Ar-Rahman, fundraising efforts have secured support for 61 mosques out of the total target of 99. This achievement reflects the high level of donor trust and public enthusiasm for the movement in Indonesia. Cinta Quran Foundation is still providing extensive opportunities for the public, communities, and the corporate sector to participate in realising the remaining 38 mosques. Participation can be made through full mosque waqf, collective waqf, partial waqf, or CSR collaboration schemes.
