First Mosque in 99 Asmaul Husna Waqf Programme Begins Construction in Aceh
Only one week after its official launch, Cinta Quran Foundation together with Yayasan Masjid Nusantara formally commenced construction of the first mosque under the 99 Asmaul Husna Mosques Waqf Programme. The occasion was marked by the laying of the first stone of the Ar-Rahman Mosque in Kampung Pematang Durian, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, on Sunday (19/7/2026).
This swift step reflects the institution’s commitment to honouring the trust placed by waqf donors. Previously, the Grand Launching of the 99 Asmaul Husna Mosques Waqf Programme was held during the Amazing Muharram 15: Reset Your Life event on 12 July 2026 in Jakarta. At that event, waqf commitments for up to 40 mosques worth the equivalent of Rp20 billion were gathered in less than an hour.
The Ar-Rahman Mosque, formerly known as the Babuttakwa Mosque, was chosen as the starting point because its construction had previously been halted due to a natural disaster, leaving it unable to be used optimally by local residents. The mosque’s rebuilding is fully supported by BCA Syariah through the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
Ustaz Fatih Karim, Chair of the Advisory Board and Founder of Cinta Quran Foundation, stressed that this rapid execution demonstrates the institution’s seriousness in upholding the noble intentions of the community. “Alhamdulillah, it took only one week from the Amazing Muharram event for us to fulfil that trust. We are present in Aceh Tamiang to begin construction of the Ar-Rahman Mosque, the first of the 99 mosques targeted to be built across Indonesia,” he said.
He added that this speed dispels the notion that fulfilling donation commitments takes a long time. “Good intentions met with swift action will bring blessings to the community. The mosque is the crucible of faith. Our second home, the place we return to and bid farewell before being escorted to face Allah SWT,” Fatih added.
Although executed very quickly, the selection of mosque locations was not done carelessly. Each site has undergone a strict and measured assessment process by the Yayasan Masjid Nusantara team as the implementing partner.
The assessment covers evaluation of technical feasibility, the level of urgency of surrounding communities’ needs, the history of limited facilities, potential usage, and the readiness of local residents to keep the mosque thriving. This is done to ensure that every waqf fund is channelled to the right targets and delivers maximum socio-religious impact.
The 99 Asmaul Husna Mosques Waqf Programme carries the mission of building and renovating houses of worship across remote corners of Indonesia, particularly in isolated areas, disaster-prone regions, and areas lacking religious facilities. Each mosque will be given one name from the Asmaul Husna as a symbol of beauty and a reminder of the attributes of Allah SWT.
Beyond the physical buildings, the programme is designed to revive a sustainable ecosystem of religious outreach and community empowerment.
As of the laying of the Ar-Rahman Mosque’s first stone, fundraising efforts have successfully secured funding for 61 mosques out of the total target of 99. This achievement demonstrates the considerable trust of donors and the enthusiasm of the Indonesian public for this movement.
Cinta Quran Foundation continues to open opportunities widely for individuals, communities, and the corporate sector to take part in realising the remaining 38 mosque sites. Participation can be made through a full single-mosque waqf, collective waqf, partial waqf, or CSR collaboration schemes.
