A total of 391 pilgrims from the first group of Makassar embarkation have returned home after performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia. The first group arrived at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport on Monday, June 1, at around 11:30 PM WITA. Hundreds of pilgrims from Soppeng Regency were immediately transported to the Sudiang Hajj Dormitory in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

‘Yes, Alhamdulillah, we received the first group from Soppeng Regency this evening, totaling 391 pilgrims,’ said Head of the South Sulawesi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Ikbal Ismail, on Tuesday, June 2.

All 391 pilgrims in the first group are in good health, Ikbal said. Upon arrival at the Sudiang Hajj Dormitory in Makassar, the committee handed them over to the Soppeng Regency government.

‘I observed that all arriving pilgrims are in good health, Alhamdulillah, and we hope they achieve a blessed Hajj. We have handed them over to the Soppeng Regency government, specifically the deputy regent,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Soppeng, Selle KS Dalle, said this year’s Hajj management was exceptional.

‘I would like to thank the central government for the exceptional management of Hajj this year, especially with the new ministry,’ Selle said.

Selle said his office is continuously monitoring and coordinating with the Soppeng Hajj and Umrah Ministry to ensure the pilgrims’ well-being.

‘We monitor daily and coordinate with our local Hajj committee. Alhamdulillah, the management in the Holy Land was exceptional,’ he added.
