First Interrogation of Yaqut Cholil Qoumas at the KPK

Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, the suspect in an alleged corruption case involving the hajj quota and administration of the hajj pilgrimage, prepared to undergo interrogation at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted its first interrogation of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (2020-2024) as a suspect, following the rejection of his pre-trial lawsuit against his suspect status by the South Jakarta District Court judge.

The interrogation marked a significant development in the investigation into allegations of corruption related to hajj quota management and the conduct of the hajj pilgrimage during Qoumas’s tenure as Religious Affairs Minister.
