First Hearing in Jokowi Diploma Case, Doctor Tifa Escorted by 25 Lawyers
Tifauzia Tyassuma, also known as Doctor Tifa, stated she was escorted by 25 advocates during the first hearing of the alleged defamation case related to the diplomas of the 7th President, Jokowi, at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday, 2 July. ‘I am present here at the East Jakarta District Court to comply with the prosecutor’s summons, accompanied by my 25 advocates,’ Tifa said before the trial. She explained that the advocates are members of the Doctor Tifa Defence Team. According to her, the advocates are experts in the field of law. ‘The team consists of the Doctor Tifa Defence Team, who have been with me for a year, joined by the Muhammadiyah Legal Aid Bureau, which has sent eight advocates specifically from Muhammadiyah,’ she said.
As this report was filed, the defamation trial with the agenda of reading the indictment had just commenced. The case, numbered 301/Pid.B/2026/PN JKT. TIM, is presided over by Chief Judge Christina Endarwati, with Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina serving as member judges. The East Jakarta District Court has prohibited visitors from conducting live streaming or direct broadcasts during the trial. ‘Visitors seated in the gallery are not permitted to conduct live coverage,’ said court spokesperson Immanuel on Wednesday, 1 July. However, Immanuel confirmed that journalists are allowed to conduct live streaming during the proceedings. He noted that media crews are not permitted to broadcast live once the trial enters the witness examination phase. ‘Throughout the trial for the reading of the indictment, exceptions or objections if any, up to the interim decision, as well as for the reading of the sentencing demands, plea, and final verdict, the East Jakarta District Court has permitted media crews to conduct live coverage,’ he stated. ‘However, during the evidentiary stage, the court has decided that live broadcasting is not allowed because, by law, witnesses’ testimonies must not be heard by one another,’ he added.
