First Hearing in Andrie Yunus Case Scheduled for 29 April

The Military Court II-08 in Jakarta has scheduled the first hearing in the case of the alleged acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, for Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The Head of the Military Court (Kadilmil) II-08 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, confirmed that all case files have been received for further examination before the trial begins. “We will hold the first hearing on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The agenda is the reading of the indictment,” said Fredy at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta, East Jakarta, on Thursday (16/4). This certainty follows the receipt of the case file transfer from the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta today, Thursday (16/4). “It is true that today, 16 April 2026, the Military Court II-08 Jakarta has received the transfer of the case file from the Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta,” said Fredy. Fredy explained that the case registration process will be carried out immediately after the examination of formal and material requirements of the file is declared complete by the court team. “Tomorrow we will already register the case. After registration, we have SOP to hold the hearing,” said Fredy. This trial will certainly present four defendants consisting of three officers and one non-commissioned officer, namely Captain NDP, First Lieutenant BHW, First Lieutenant SL, and Sergeant Second ES. They serve in the Detachment Headquarters of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Denma BAIS), originating from the Navy and Air Force. “The defendants will definitely be presented at the first hearing and are required to attend,” emphasised Fredy. Hearing to be Held Open Given the high public attention to this case, Fredy guaranteed that the trial proceedings will be transparent and open to the public. “Because it does not concern morality, does not concern children, does not concern state secrets. Therefore, it is open; on 29 April, the Military Court is open to the public,” said Fredy. The court even plans to prepare supporting facilities so that the public and media can monitor the trial clearly. “Later, we will also install screens to accommodate media colleagues in particular and the public who want to watch,” explained Fredy. Andrie Yunus became the victim of an acid attack on Thursday night (12/3). The incident occurred after Andrie Yunus attended a podcast event titled “Remilitarism and Judicial Review in Indonesia” at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), around 23:00 WIB.
