The latest development in the case of confinement and severe abuse involving Taufik Hidayat has reached a turning point. The individual, who was on a wanted list, is strongly suspected of being the perpetrator who confined a woman with the initials YTR in the Bandung Regency area for years and has finally been caught. In several posts circulating on social media, Taufik Hidayat is seen being detained by the police and transported in a vehicle under tight security. In the circulating video, Taufik’s initial appearance lacked the tense expression typically seen in fugitives in serious cases. Instead, the perpetrator could still smile, which angered netizens. ‘Alhamdulillah, we have secured him. What is your name?’ asked the police officer. ‘Taufik Hidayat,’ the perpetrator replied. Many social media users expressed fury because the perpetrator’s expression showed no remorse, and he even smiled when questioned. ‘Still able to smile, please keep him secure,’ wrote one netizen in the video’s comments. ‘Finally caught this guy, so annoying he can still smile,’ added another. The case occurred in the Bandung Regency area, West Java. The victim, identified by the initials YTR (29), was allegedly confined and severely abused in a boarding house in Cileunyi for approximately three years. The victim was found in a deplorable condition, with serious injuries to her body, impaired vision, and severe health problems resulting from the violence she endured. The perpetrator is believed to be the victim’s boyfriend. Based on family accounts and initial investigations, the victim and perpetrator first met at a music event. A relationship that initially appeared normal turned into one of control, violence, and isolation, until the victim no longer had free access to the outside world. The case has drawn widespread attention because the victim allegedly suffered prolonged violence, leaving her in a dire state when discovered.
