First Foldable iPhone Revealed to the Public: Here is What it Looks Like

The first foldable iPhone, which has been a subject of intense speculation for some time, has finally been seen in the form of a dummy unit. Images of the dummy unit were shared by leaker Sonny Dickson via his X account.

Based on the leaked dummy, Apple’s first foldable phone features a book-like form factor. The external screen measures approximately 5.5 inches, while the internal screen expands to 7.8 inches when unfolded, according to reports from Digital Trends. The screen size is remarkably similar to that of an iPad mini. When closed, the device appears relatively short and wide, differing significantly from the standard iPhone models released to date.

Apple has positioned the front-facing camera in the top-left corner of the internal display. The rear of the device features two cameras arranged side-by-side. According to rumours, the foldable iPhone will lack Face ID functionality; instead, the device will be equipped with a Touch ID button to serve as both an unlocking mechanism and a gateway for Apple Pay.

Regarding colour options, Dickson suggested that the device might only be available in white upon its initial launch. This contradicts other reports suggesting the ‘iPhone Fold’ could arrive in both white and black. Apple has a history of launching specific product lines with limited colour palettes, gradually expanding them in subsequent generations, so a limited launch for the iPhone Fold is a distinct possibility.

Apple has yet to release an official statement regarding the iPhone Fold. However, several reports indicate that the foldable handset is slated for release at the end of the year, alongside the iPhone 18 series. The company is also expected to reveal software enhancements tailored for foldable devices within the iOS 27 update, with features such as split-screen multitasking and an iPad-style user interface likely to be included. Further detailed information will remain speculative until Apple officially unveils the foldable iPhone to the public.
