Alatau City, Kazakhstan — AutoFlight has completed a one-ton class eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) flight demonstration in Alatau City, Kazakhstan, marking the first Urban Air Mobility (UAM) flight based on eVTOL technology in Central Asia.

The flight was realised through a collaboration with Alatau Advance Air Group Ltd. (AAAG), a company that has purchased and completed payment for a large-scale eVTOL unit from AutoFlight. At the flight ceremony, both parties also signed a memorandum of understanding to add a further purchase of 50 eVTOL units in the V2000/V5000 series to support low-altitude air transport in Kazakhstan and neighbouring regions.

Currently, the first vertiport in Alatau City is being built at the flight demonstration site. The facility is planned to develop into the UAM Centre Eurasia, the first urban air mobility hub in Kazakhstan.

“This flight not only demonstrates the capabilities of eVTOL technology but also represents a first step towards a model of city development powered by innovation, digital transformation, and a modern air mobility system as a new economic sector,” said Alisher Abdykadyrov, CEO of Alatau City Authority.

AAAG and Alatau City Bank also want to cooperate to attract foreign investment and support liquidity mechanisms to accelerate AAAG’s strategic initiatives. Vyacheslav Kim, shareholder of Alatau City Bank, said: “The President of Kazakhstan has approved the Constitution on the ‘Special Legal Regime of the City of Alatau’ on 8 May 2026 as the foundation for developing the advanced technology sector, including the ‘low-altitude economy’. With presidential support, we are building the UAM Centre Eurasia and attracting a number of world-leading technology partners to Kazakhstan.”

AutoFlight will collaborate with AAAG and Kazakh authorities to speed up the airworthiness certification process, establish operating standards, and develop a pilot training framework for the region.
