First Eid as Minister, Purbaya: Heavier Burden, Sometimes Hard to Sleep...
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa recounted his first experience celebrating Eid al-Fitr since assuming his ministerial role. He admitted it felt heavier, to the point of struggling to sleep. He shared this after performing Eid al-Fitr prayers for 1447 Hijriah at the Salahuddin Mosque, Directorate General of Taxation Office, Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3/2026). Purbaya explained that this year’s Eid felt different because his burden of responsibility has grown larger, even affecting his rest time. Nevertheless, he said he still enjoyed this year’s Eid moments. Purbaya even joked that the positive side he felt was receiving a larger bonus, despite facing work pressures. “But it’s alright, more enjoyable, bigger bonus,” Purbaya quipped. On that occasion, Purbaya also showed off the outfit he was wearing. He wore a turquoise green koko shirt bought in the Tanah Abang area for around Rp 125,000. “This was bought in Tanah Abang back then. Around Rp 125,000 I think, short-sleeved,” he said. The Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Salahuddin Mosque was also attended by several officials, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. There were also Interior Minister Tito Karnavian, Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra, as well as Director General of Taxation Bimo Wijayanto. The Eid prayer proceeded solemnly, joined by employees from the Ministry of Finance environment and local residents.
