The West Kalimantan Provincial Department of Plantation and Livestock (Disbunnak) has recorded the first export of edible bird’s nests from the region to Singapore, amounting to 103 kilograms with a value reaching Rp1.3 billion.

“This inaugural export is part of an effort to encourage livestock products and animal derivatives from West Kalimantan to penetrate international markets,” said the Acting Head of Disbunnak West Kalimantan, Rino Anteno Tengo, during the export departure ceremony at Supadio International Airport, Kubu Raya Regency, on Friday.

He noted that the export was conducted by PT Raymond Sukses Mandiri, a company based in Singkawang.

According to him, with an export value of approximately Rp1.3 billion for 103 kilograms, the commodity has an average value of about Rp12.6 million per kilogram. This value demonstrates the economic potential of edible bird’s nests as a high-value-added commodity from West Kalimantan.

He explained that the bird’s nest company has already obtained a Level I Veterinary Control Number (NKV), which is categorized as very good.

“NKV certification is one of the essential requirements to guarantee the suitability and safety of animal products for marketing, including to export destination countries,” he said.

He added that strengthening standards, quality, and meeting the requirements of destination countries are vital components to ensure that products from West Kalimantan can expand their access to international markets.

“The export to Singapore also opens opportunities for the development of the edible bird’s nest industry from upstream to downstream in West Kalimantan, so that it does not only produce raw commodities but also increases added value and income potential for business actors,” he explained.

The inaugural export event was also attended by the Head of Pontianak Customs, the General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II, the Head of the Indonesian Animal Quarantine Station West Kalimantan, and several other relevant agencies.
