Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) states that the implementation of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) for junior secondary education (SMP) represents a new chapter in integrating assessments related to national education implementation.

Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti said that the TKA for SMP measures numerous aspects, not just the students’ abilities as test participants and learners.

“We are conducting this TKA for the first time in history. And this TKA is not merely measuring academic ability,” said Mendikdasmen Mu’ti in Tangerang Regency, Banten Province, on Monday.

Through the TKA implementation at the SMP level, they obtain data on students’ numeracy skills, literacy, character development, and learning environments.

“So through this TKA, we measure numeracy ability, literacy, character, and then the learning environment. And one more thing is how we measure academic ability itself,” he added.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Education Curriculum and Assessment Standards Agency (BSKAP) of Kemendikdasmen, Toni Toharudin, made a similar statement.

The implementation of the TKA, particularly at the SMP education level, produces five integrated data sets that are vital for improving national education quality.

“We are creating a new history here. In one activity, we produce five data sets that are very important for quality improvement. I think this is a history for integrated assessment,” said Toni.

They hope that the results of the TKA implementation at the SMP level will provide a profile of students’ abilities as well as an evaluation of national education quality.

For information, the first day of TKA implementation for SMP level tests the subjects of mathematics and numeracy with 30 questions and a completion time of 75 minutes.

After completing the mathematics and numeracy subjects, participants will complete a character survey for 20 minutes.
