Parents in Mataram City complained of disruptions to the New Student Admission System (SPMB) 2026/2027 on the first day of registration, Monday (22/6/2026). Several parents reported experiencing problems when filling in registration data, particularly because the home location coordinate point did not appear in the system. “After we filled in (the grades column), it was normal at first, but we were confused why the coordinate point didn’t appear. It couldn’t be clicked,” complained Wayan, a parent, when interviewed at SMPN 2 Mataram. According to Wayan, the absence of the coordinate point meant the registration process could not proceed, as the system requires all data to be filled in first. “If we don’t fill in the coordinates, we can’t fill in the other documents, so it’s a dilemma. It turns out I wasn’t the only one experiencing this error; many other parents were also affected,” he added. Responding to the complaints, Acting Head of SMPN 2 Mataram Ni Nengah Sri Swati explained that most of the problems were experienced by prospective students who accessed the system before the official registration schedule opened. “It turns out they registered before the official registration opened. For example, they filled it in yesterday, the 21st, or at dawn this morning. The official opening was at 8 a.m. this morning,” Nengah Sri said when confirmed in her office on Monday. Nengah Sri asserted that the system was not problematic. Technical issues, such as the coordinate point not appearing, occurred because prospective registrants accessed the system outside the designated operational hours. “So actually there is no problem with the coordinate point. Sometimes the parents are too eager, thinking it’s a race, that might be possible,” she revealed. Meanwhile, for the 2026/2027 academic year, SMPN 2 Mataram, a favourite school among Mataram residents, has recorded an increase in student quota. The total number of students is 486, with a capacity of 11 study groups. Head of the Mataram City Education Office, Yusuf, also stated that the disruptions complained of by several parents occurred because they tried to access the system before registration officially opened. “Most parents who filled it in before the registration opening, that’s why they got an error,” Yusuf explained. He confirmed that the registration site is now functioning normally and can be accessed by the public. “It’s running now,” he said. For information, the SPMB for junior secondary school level in Mataram City is divided into four pathways: domicile at 50 percent, achievement at 25 percent, mutation at 5 percent, and affirmation at 20 percent. The achievement pathway is further divided into three: academic achievement based on report card grades at 12 percent, non-academic achievement at 8 percent, and religious achievement at 5 percent. The achievement and affirmation pathways are open from 22-24 June, with announcements on 25 June and re-registration on 26 and 29 June. Meanwhile, the domicile and mutation pathways take place from 29 June to 1 July 2026, with announcements on 2 July 2026 and re-registration on 6-8 July 2026.
