JAKARTA - The first Car Free Day (HBKB) on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said in South Jakarta will involve 200 cleaning personnel to keep the capital city clean on Sunday (9 May 2026).

“The DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) is deploying 200 cleaning personnel along with supporting facilities and infrastructure throughout Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said,” said the Head of the DKI Jakarta DLH, Dudi Gardesi, in a written statement received by Kompas.com on Saturday (9 May 2026).

The supporting facilities prepared include three road sweeper units, two inorganic waste trucks, two electric compactor trucks, 100 dust bins, three sulo bins, 1,000 plastic bags, five toilet buses, two dirty water tanks, and two clean water tanks.

The event will be attended by the Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, the Minister of Environment, Jumhur Hidayat, and his deputy Diaz Faisal Malik Hendropriyono.

There will also be Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and Deputy Governor Rano Karno, as well as several high-ranking state officials.

During the event, CFD participants can take part in activities to save inorganic waste to understand that well-sorted waste also has economic value.

This activity also features various educational and interactive programmes to bring the culture of waste sorting closer to the public.

“Starting from 1 August 2026, TPST Bantargebang will only accept residue waste. Even in 2027, TPST Bantargebang is targeted to no longer accept waste,” he said.
