First Batch of 443 Pilgrims from Palembang Embarkation Arrive in Indonesia on Tuesday

The first batch of 443 Hajj pilgrims from the Palembang embarkation, South Sumatra, arrived in Indonesia via Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport on Tuesday at 06:25 WIB. The arrival of the group, which experienced a slight delay of approximately 20 minutes from the original 06:05 WIB schedule, proceeded smoothly, and all pilgrims are reported to be in good health.

The Deputy Governor of South Sumatra, Cik Ujang, personally welcomed the pilgrims at the Palembang Hajj dormitory. He expressed his gratitude that all pilgrims arrived in good condition, despite the fatigue following their long journey. He also commended the officials who accompanied the pilgrims during their Hajj pilgrimage and ensured an orderly return process.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for South Sumatra, M. Arkan Nurwahiddin, stated that the group consisted of 443 individuals, including 438 pilgrims—comprising 437 from East OKU and one from Banyuasin—alongside five Hajj officials. He added that all pilgrims received assistance from officials throughout their journey, ensuring they arrived safely in the country.

The pilgrims appeared cheerful and enthusiastic to reunite with their families after completing their Hajj pilgrimage. Regarding the return process to their respective home regions, he noted that the local government will organise pickups in accordance with regulations, including providing transportation for certain pilgrims to their designated departure points.
