Banjarmasin (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Governor H. Muhidin released the departure of the first batch of prospective Hajj pilgrims from the Banjarmasin embarkation point to the holy land for the 1447 H / 2026 CE Hajj season.

During the release of the first batch of prospective Hajj pilgrims from Banjarmasin City at the Hajj dormitory in Banjarbaru City on Thursday, the Governor conveyed a message for the pilgrims to always maintain their health and perform the fifth pillar of Islam with sincere intentions.

He asked the pilgrims to maintain a proper diet and get sufficient rest so that the entire series of Hajj rituals proceeds smoothly.

He also reminded them of the weather conditions in Saudi Arabia, which is currently entering the summer season with temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius, even hotter during the peak of worship in Arafah.

The Governor asked the pilgrims to always maintain order, increase istighfar, and bring important equipment such as the Hajj bracelet which serves as identification during their stay in the holy land.

“Do not act carelessly, increase istighfar, and do not forget to bring the Hajj bracelet,” he said.

In particular, to the Hajj officials and health workers, the Governor asked them to provide maximum service to all Hajj pilgrims.

“Please pray for us all, pray for our region,” he said.

“Alhamdulillah, all departure processes from the Hajj dormitory to the airport went smoothly, and all were declared fit to fly,” he stated.

The number of prospective Hajj pilgrims in this first batch is 359 people, some of whom are elderly.

“For the elderly pilgrims, they receive special attention, may they remain healthy to perform the Hajj pilgrimage,” he added.

The Banjarmasin embarkation point serves 5,197 pilgrims from South Kalimantan and 1,561 from Central Kalimantan, with a total of 6,758 pilgrims divided into 19 flying groups (batches).

The departures are divided into two waves: the first wave consists of 9 batches with a direct route to Madinah, and the second wave consists of 10 batches destined for Jeddah. Each batch will be accompanied by four officials, consisting of the batch leader, worship guide, doctor, and nurse.
