First aid

First aid

From Kompas

With regards to Ms. Yossephine's complaint Pingsan di Makro tidak ditolong (No help when I fainted in Makro), published in Kompas on July 24, 1996, I would like to make the following comments.

The complaint suggests that Makro has no concern for consumers while they shop. As a trade center, Makro has regulations. Our staff will always be available for help when required. Upon investigation of the incident at Makro in Ciputat on July 17, we were informed that Ms. Yossephine, after having paid at the cashier, was helped by our staff. The staff showed her where she could test her lamp. She was shocked when the lamp dropped and broke into pieces. But it was her own mistake. The lamp did not explode. It is not true that she was unconscious for about one hour and that nobody looked after her. Ms. Yossephine was in fact conscious at that time and it was suggested that she have a drink. There was no need to take her to the first aid department.

There is a first aid section in every Makro supermarket manned by trained staff. The company cooperates with the nearby hospital.
