Jakarta – Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, has firmly stated that the implementation of the People’s School programme must not be marred by corrupt practices.

Gus Ipul made this assertion after holding an audience with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday, 8 May 2026.

“I and the Deputy Minister have committed to ensuring that all programmes in the Ministry of Social Affairs, particularly the strategic programme of the President concerning the People’s School, are not tainted by corrupt practices or other dishonourable conduct,” said Gus Ipul during a press conference on Friday, 8 May 2026.

On that occasion, Gus Ipul mentioned that his side received numerous inputs and notes from the KPK regarding the implementation of the People’s School.

He stated that these notes would serve as improvements for the Ministry of Social Affairs to close off opportunities for corrupt practices, especially in the procurement process for the People’s School programme.

“There are many aspects that must be corrected and improved on our part so that prevention can be carried out earnestly, closing all loopholes, and ultimately ensuring a transparent and fair process,” he concluded.

Previously reported, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, along with the Ministry of Social Affairs team, visited the Red and White Building of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in South Jakarta on Friday, 8 May 2026.

Gus Ipul explained that his visit was for consultation and to seek advice regarding developments in the procurement of goods and services at the Ministry of Social Affairs.

“This is a visit to strengthen ties, consultation, seeking advice, and also to report on the developments in the procurement of goods and services at the Ministry of Social Affairs,” said Gus Ipul to reporters at the KPK’s Red and White Building.

He elaborated that they would report in detail on the procurement of goods and services within the Ministry of Social Affairs, including plans for procurement related to the People’s School programme.

“We are seeking advice, inputs, criticism, and suggestions because we are currently starting the implementation of procurement in 2026. We want the President’s strategic programme, especially the People’s School, not to be tainted by corrupt practices,” he explained.
