Fireworks Explode During Decoration Process, Two Buildings in Bali Burn Down

A fire accompanied by firework explosions gutted two residential buildings on Jalan Siulan, Gang Nusa Indah, East Denpasar, Denpasar City, on Tuesday (15/09/2026) afternoon. The fire was suspected to have been triggered by fireworks that suddenly exploded during the assembly process.

The owner of the burnt rental property, M. Ali (53), clarified that his building was not a fireworks production facility, but rather a rental house used to store decoration equipment. “We purchased the fireworks and were assembling them for a show. This is not a warehouse, but a rental house. We assemble them here before transporting them,” Ali stated at the scene of the fire.

Ali mentioned that the fire broke out while his employees were assembling fireworks intended for displays in Karangasem and Nusa Penida scheduled for the following day. At the time, the employees were using adhesive tape to secure the fireworks.

However, the fireworks suddenly exploded during the assembly. The flames then spread to fabrics used for decorations, causing the fire to grow rapidly. “We were initially applying the tape when it suddenly exploded on its own. Since we are decorators, the fire spread to the fabrics, and the flames intensified,” he explained.

It is suspected that the explosion also ignited a motorcycle paint workshop located across from the rental property, causing it to be burnt as well.

Two victims were reported to have sustained burns from the incident: I Made Gede (35), who was referred to Dharma Yadnya Hospital, and Tina Kustina (22), who suffered minor burns.
