Firefighting Efforts at East Jakarta Frame Factory Continue After 15 Hours

Firefighters are still working to extinguish a blaze at a frame factory on Jalan Pondok Kelapa Selatan, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, 15 hours after it was first reported. The operation is currently in the cooling phase.

“It is still in the cooling phase,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Bayu Meghantara, when contacted on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

Officers are continuing to ensure there are no remaining pockets of fire. The materials that burned have caused the extinguishing process to take a considerable amount of time.

“We are ensuring that no more flames appear. The obstacle to extinguishing the fire is the material that burned. The cause of the fire is under investigation,” he said.

The fire was initially reported in the early hours of the morning, at around 00:25 WIB. A total of 100 personnel were deployed to the scene.

“The object is a frame factory. The extinguishing process is still ongoing,” the East Jakarta Fire Department Command Center confirmed on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters faced difficulties due to distant water sources. The cause of the fire and whether there are any casualties remain unknown.
