Firefighting and Evacuation at Pavilion Apartment Concludes After 6.5 Hours
The evacuation and firefighting process at the Pavilion Apartment, located in the Jalan Mas Mansyur area, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, has concluded. Fire engines have begun to depart from the apartment complex.
As of Friday (4/9/2026) at 18:07 WIB, fire crews were seen leaving the site, and personnel were rotating out of the incident area. Traffic on the road in front of the apartment was observed to be congested but has since become passable for motorists.
The Head of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Bayu Meghantara, confirmed that there were no fatalities in the fire. He stated that the blaze was suspected to have been caused by burning electrical panel cables.
“That is correct, thank God, so far there are no casualties at the location,” said Bayu Meghantara at the scene on Friday.
Bayu noted that a total of 33 residents were evacuated, consisting of 31 Indonesian citizens and two foreign nationals. Additionally, nine pets were successfully evacuated from the building.
The fire is believed to have originated on the 4th or 5th floor of Tower 3 of the apartment. The evacuation included three infants who required further monitoring due to the thick smoke within the building, which caused significant distress.
He confirmed that no residents were found unconscious during the evacuation process. The rescue operation was conducted floor by floor, as smoke naturally rises.
A total of 28 pump engines and 140 firefighters were deployed to handle the fire, which was first reported at 11:23 WIB. Firefighting efforts commenced at 11:30 WIB.
By 13:36 WIB, officers had managed to control the flames to prevent the fire from spreading to wider areas or other objects, continuously spraying water on the hotspots. The firefighting operation was officially declared complete at 16:55 WIB, following an extensive cooling process and the evacuation of residents.
The Fire and Rescue Service also deployed a Bronto Skylift truck, using its long ladder to assist in both extinguishing the flames and evacuating residents from higher floors.
