Firefighter's Phone Stolen While Charging at a Warteg in Depok

The mobile phone belonging to a fire brigade (damkar) member named Aryo was stolen whilst he was eating at a warteg in the Pancoran Mas area of Depok. The theft was recorded on CCTV and went viral on social media.

From the video circulating on social media, the victim was eating with his colleagues at a food stall when a man in a brown jacket took the victim’s phone, which was being charged on the display counter.

The perpetrator then quickly paid for his meal and left the scene on a motorbike. The victim was left holding the charger and panicked when he realised his phone was gone.

The incident reportedly took place on Monday (14/9) at midday on Jalan Raya Cipayung, Depok. The victim’s colleague, Khairul, said the fire brigade member had been distributing water in the area.

“We were about to distribute water to this area, and before the distribution we had lunch,” Khairul told reporters on Tuesday (15/9).

The victim then borrowed electricity to charge his phone at the warteg. He did not notice his phone being stolen whilst eating.

“So he was charging his phone at the warteg, and it turned out someone took it. We were having lunch there,” he explained.

“He said he has already filed a police report and blocked his mobile banking as well,” he added.
