Firefighters Mugged in Central Jakarta, Pramono: This Must Not Happen Again
Firefighters (Damkar) became victims of muggers in Gambir, Central Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has requested that the Satpol PP provide assistance and report the case to the police. “I just heard about this. But if it’s true that a Damkar officer was ganged up on by muggers and thugs in Gambir, then I request that Satpol PP provide support, assistance, and also report it to law enforcement authorities,” Pramono said when met at Pompa Ancol, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Pramono stated that the assault case cannot be ignored. He said such cases must not happen again. “Things like this must not occur, because this is vigilantism. Whatever it is, our country is a state of law,” he said. Previously, a firefighter named Bimo Margo Hutomo (30) became a mugging victim on Jalan KH Hasyim Ashari, Gambir, Central Jakarta (Jakpus), resulting in the loss of his motorcycle and mobile phone. Police officers are still investigating the case. The mugging incident occurred on Thursday (2/4) and went viral on social media. From the circulating video, the victim appears to be cornered by several perpetrators until he is beaten. The victim also appears to have briefly fought with one of the perpetrators. The perpetrators then left the location, fleeing with the victim’s motorcycle. Acting Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Metro Gambir Police Sector, Iptu Heri Moko, said that the victim, who was returning home from a friend’s house at the time, was cornered by the perpetrators and then beaten until he was hit with a stone, resulting in his motorcycle being taken. “The individual was returning from a friend’s house and passing through the scene when the victim was cornered by the perpetrators and accomplices. Then the perpetrator kicked the victim until he fell, and the victim was kicked and hit with a stone at the scene. Subsequently, the victim’s motorcycle and mobile phone were taken by the perpetrator,” said Iptu Heri.
