Firefighters extinguish warehouse blaze involving wood and cardboard piles in North Jakarta

The North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) extinguished a warehouse fire involving piles of wood and cardboard on Jalan Pelabuhan Ratu Number 11, RT 02 RW 11, Ancol Urban Village, North Jakarta, on Monday afternoon. “The objects that caught fire were piles of wood and cardboard, with the affected area reaching 60 square metres,” said Gulkarmat Operations Section Head Gatot Sulaeman in Jakarta on Monday. Gatot explained that the fire was suspected to have originated from welding sparks produced by workers inside the building. “An employee was carrying out welding work in the building area, which caused the fire to spread to the piles of cardboard and wood,” he said. He stated that the building that caught fire belonged to PT CIU, with losses estimated at Rp5 million. “Alhamdulillah, there were no casualties in this incident,” said Gatot. The North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Gulkarmat deployed three fire engines with 15 personnel who battled to extinguish the flames. Officers arrived at the location at 12.52 p.m. Western Indonesia Time and the fire was successfully extinguished at 1.10 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. Gatot urged the public to be more vigilant and cautious regarding potential fire triggers and to always check their local electrical networks. “Alhamdulillah, the fire was brought under control by officers and is now fully extinguished,” he concluded.
