Firefighters Battle to Extinguish Land Fires in Kertapati, Palembang
Firefighters from Manggala Agni Sumatera XVI-Lahat are battling to extinguish land fires in Karya Jaya, Kertapati District, Palembang, South Sumatra. According to data from the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs, the total area burned in six priority provinces from January to 9 August 2026 reached 48,889.69 hectares. The breakdown includes 664.87 hectares in South Sumatra, approximately 28,680.47 hectares in West Kalimantan, 15,551.76 hectares in Riau, 3,069.52 hectares in Central Kalimantan, around 540 hectares in Jambi, and 383.07 hectares in South Kalimantan. Overall, forest and land fires have burned 107,000 hectares across Indonesia.
