Firefighters Battle to Extinguish Land Fire in Ogan Ilir

Manggala Agni Daops Sumatera XIV-Banyuasin successfully extinguished a land fire that occurred in Sungai Rambutan Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, on Sunday (26/7/2026). The firefighting effort was carried out through ground handling by Manggala Agni personnel, supported by an aerial operation using a Sikorsky Black Hawk N360UH water bombing helicopter to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding areas. Officers swept the burnt area to ensure there were no remaining embers that could potentially trigger subsequent fires. The dry season, with its dry vegetation conditions, increases the risk of forest and land fires in several regions of South Sumatra. Manggala Agni continues to conduct patrols and monitoring in fire-prone areas as a preventive measure during the dry season. The public is urged not to clear land by burning and to immediately report any sightings of hotspots to prevent the spread of forest and land fires.
