Firefighters Battle Blaze at Jatiwaringin Landfill in Tangerang

A fire broke out at the Jatiwaringin Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Tuesday (30/6/2026). Thick plumes of smoke billowed into the air as firefighters struggled to reach the growing flames amidst the mounds of waste. The Tangerang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) deployed nine fire engines and 45 personnel to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding areas. The blaze is estimated to have scorched an area of approximately two hectares. While the firefighting operation is still underway, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, with officers working to ensure the flames are fully extinguished and do not reignite.
