Firefighter Threatened After Creating Content About Helmets

A case of violence involving a police officer has once again drawn public attention. This time, a 14-year-old student from MTs Negeri in Tual, Maluku, named Arianto Tawakal, died after being hit with a tactical helmet by Bripda Masias Victoria Siahaya, a member of the Maluku Police’s Brimob.

The case of violence that led to Arianto’s death has received widespread attention from the public, including a firefighter named Khairul Umam, who also reacted. He created a video with a subtle message about the function of a helmet.

“I want to tell you, this is called a helmet. Its purpose is to protect the head, not to destroy it. They say that during Ramadan, the devils are imprisoned, but there are still people like this,” Umam said in a video uploaded to his personal Instagram account, @xkhairulumam.

However, after uploading the video, Khairul Umam claimed to have received threats. Through a post on his Instagram account, he stated that the threats came via WhatsApp messages. The sender even revealed his home address and mentioned the names of his parents.

“Khairul Umam xxxxxxx. These are your two addresses. Don’t forget to wear a helmet so that it always protects your head. Also, ask for prayers and blessings from (mother’s name) and (father’s name) so that you are safe,” read the threatening message from an unknown number.

In the message, the sender also gave a message with a ‘threatening’ tone regarding his safety. Even though he received threats, Khairul Umam gave a calm reply.

“Take care and stay safe, I hope you are always given safety,” said the sender.

“Thank you for your prayers, I hope your family is also healthy,” replied Khairul Umam.

“Amen, if not, you won’t be safe and won’t celebrate Eid,” replied the sender.

On the other hand, he stated that this post was deliberately made as evidence, in case something bad happened to him in the future.

“I deliberately posted this. At least you will know if something happens to me. Lol,” he wrote.

Threatening those around Khairul Umam

Not only to his family, the threats were also directed at people close to Khairul Umam. In a message shared by him, it showed a message containing a video of Khairul Umam regarding the function of a helmet sent to the WhatsApp number of a person close to the firefighter.
