Firefighter assaulted by muggers, Pramono: report to law enforcement

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has given his response regarding the assault on a firefighter by a gang of muggers on Jalan Hasyim Ashari, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

Pramono said he had only just heard about the information. Nevertheless, he asked the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) ranks to provide support assistance and to escort the reporting to law enforcement authorities.

“If it is true that a firefighter was assaulted by muggers and thugs in Gambir, then I request Satpol PP to provide support assistance and also to report to law enforcement authorities,” Pramono said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Pramono stressed that criminal acts cannot be tolerated and must not happen again in Jakarta.

Therefore, Pramono emphasised that Jakarta must be a safe city for anyone.

“Things like this must not happen because this is vigilantism. Whatever, our country is a rule of law state,” Pramono asserted firmly.

Previously, a firefighter became a victim of mugging in Gambir, Central Jakarta.

The victim suffered injuries and material losses due to the loss of his motorcycle and mobile phone.
