The Mental Hospital in Grogol was the first casualty of
firecrackers to herald in the new year. Fortunately, the
firecrackers did not cause any fatalities and only grazed a
building. Will this situation continue until more serious
accidents occur?

We appeal to the relevant security services to curb
firecracker games. The public is tired of promises that action
will be taken in regard to the problem regardless of rank, status
or position.

Firecrackers could develop into a blazing fire, a sensitive
person might die of shock, heart patients could have a heart
attack or stroke because of the loud sound of the explosives.

We implore once again the authorities' attention and stern
action in the matter. We do not need promises. Exercise the
prevailing regulations to prevent firecracker accidents before it
is too late.
