Tangerang — The Criminal Investigation Unit of Tangerang City Metro Police has resolved the case of firecracker throwing targeting a public minibus (B 02) driver on the Cikokol–Ciledug route by several youths through restorative justice.

“After conducting clarifications with the victim and perpetrators, we facilitated a meeting for settlement through a family-approach while upholding legal principles and justice,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of Tangerang City Metro Police, AKBP Parikhesit, in his statement in Tangerang on Friday.

He stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday at 02:00 WIB and went viral on Instagram through the account @infocipondoh.id. After the video circulated widely, police immediately conducted clarifications, gathered further information, and brought both parties together.

The victims in the incident were Muhamad Gazali (51) and Marjono (51), both drivers of the B 02 public minibus on the Cikokol–Ciledug route.

The three young men involved in the incident were D.A. (20), R.D.S. (16), and U.P.Y. (21). At the mediation meeting facilitated at Tangerang City Metro Police headquarters, the perpetrators’ parents, victims, and police officials were present.

During the mediation forum, the perpetrators and their families directly apologised to both drivers for their actions and promised not to repeat such behaviour. The perpetrators acknowledged their wrongdoing and sought forgiveness from the victims and the community. Both parties agreed to settle the matter peacefully through a joint agreement letter.

“The two drivers accepted the apology and agreed to make peace to maintain the conduciveness of Tangerang City’s area,” he said.

Tangerang City Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol. Raden Muhammad Jauhari emphasised that the problem-solving approach was undertaken by considering humanitarian aspects, the age of the perpetrators, and the social impact caused, without disregarding legal responsibility.

“We urge all members of the community, particularly young people, not to engage in actions that endanger themselves or others. Social media is not a space to seek sensation in ways that violate the law,” he said.
