Firecracker Production House Explodes in Kendal, One Worker Injured with Fracture

An explosion occurred at a house suspected of producing firecrackers in Ngloyo hamlet, Kendal, Central Java, injuring one worker.

“One worker sustained injuries to his leg. The house belongs to Yoga Arsyadana, who is suspected of having produced firecrackers in large quantities,” said Kendal Police Chief AKBP Hendry Susanto Sianipar on Thursday (19 February 2026).

The incident took place on Wednesday (18 February) at approximately 09:00 local time. The victim, Dio Faras (21), suffered burns and a fracture to his left leg after reportedly being struck by debris from an explosion inside the firecracker production warehouse.

“His condition has now improved and he is being treated at Muhammadiyah Islamic Hospital 2 Patean, where he continues to receive medical care,” said Hendry.

According to witness statements, the victim had arrived at Yoga’s house that morning to work. After entering the warehouse and beginning the firecracker production process, a sudden powerful explosion occurred.

“The victim ran outside and then felt pain in his left leg, which was injured by the blast debris,” Hendry said.
