The discovery of a firearm in a room at a private school in the Pondok Pinang area of South Jakarta has caused a stir. The firearm discovery is now being investigated by the police.
Based on photo documents uploaded by the Antara news agency on Thursday (6/8/2026), the firearm was seen stored in a room that more closely resembled a warehouse. The firearm was a revolver.
Several homemade firearms were also visible. The firearms were stacked on top of styrofoam boxes.
The firearm discovery is currently being investigated by the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police. The Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKP Joko Adiwibowo, said the firearms were stored in one of the rooms at the school foundation.
“It is true that the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police received a report from the public regarding the discovery of weapons (consisting of air guns and firearms) stored in one of the rooms at the school foundation located in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta,” Joko told reporters on Thursday (6/8).
The discovery of the weapons has been reported to the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Joko said that before the report was made, the police had also issued a model A report regarding the discovery.
“Before the police report in question was made, the South Jakarta Police had already made a model A police report which was created shortly after the incident was discovered,” he said.
Joko has not yet provided further details regarding the chronology of the discovery or the ownership of the weapons. The police are still conducting an investigation.
