Residents affected by the fire in the Pasar Jiung area, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, have expressed their gratitude upon receiving essential food aid packages from the Indonesian National Police (Polri). These aid packages were distributed by the Head of Traffic Police, Irjen Agus Suryonugress, to help lighten the burden on the community.

“I am very grateful; it turns out the Police are paying attention to the fire victims. My hope is that in the future, more institutions will follow the Police’s example. I am very happy,” said Fatimah (51), a local resident in Kemayoran, on Monday (8/6/2026).

Fatimah noted that the aid packages are desperately needed by the residents. She also expressed hope that residents might be considered as candidates for house renovation assistance as part of the upcoming 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary on 1 July.

“We really hope for that. Perhaps not just for me, but everyone hopes there will be assistance to rebuild our homes. We are lower-middle-class residents in terms of economy,” Fatimah said. “The assistance is very much needed so that we can rebuild our houses and have a place to live again, hopefully with stronger structures.”

Another resident, Darni (57), also expressed joy and gratitude, noting that the food packages provided by the Head of Traffic Police were comprehensive. “I am happy. The aid is very complete; I saw there was rice, oil, sugar, milk, and noodles. This is certainly very beneficial for our residents,” Darni said.

Furthermore, Darni expressed relief that concerns regarding the difficulties in processing vehicle documents for vehicles destroyed in the fire will be directly addressed by Irjen Agus.
