Jakarta — The South Jakarta City Administration (Jaksel City Government) is planning to relocate fire survivors from RW 09, Bintaro Village, Pesanggrahan District, following a fire on Saturday 14 March, to public apartment housing (rusun).

“After Eid al-Fitr, these residents will likely be relocated to apartment housing so they can live in more adequate accommodation,” said South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar during an inspection of the fire site in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Anwar added that a school for children would also be relocated to a location near the apartment housing.

He explained that based on data, of the 12 buildings destroyed by the fire, at least approximately 74 families or around 167 people were affected.

“Of this number, approximately 40 people are Jakarta residents, whilst the remainder hold identity cards from outside Jakarta,” he said.

In addition to basic assistance already provided by relevant agencies such as the Sub-district Social Services and Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency, as well as assistance from other parties, on Tuesday assistance of Rp2 million per affected household was also distributed to cover temporary accommodation costs.

“Our presence here is also to provide services and assistance so that affected residents can recover as before,” he said.

Earlier, the fire destroyed 10 houses and two stalls on Jalan Bintaro Permai 3 RT 13/RW 09, Bintaro Village, Pesanggrahan District, South Jakarta, on Saturday morning (14 March). There were no fatalities from the incident.
