Fire Spreads to 26 Warehouses in Kosambi, Tangerang; Flames Still Raging
The fire in the Kosambi Permai warehouse area, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, expanded on Wednesday (16/9) afternoon. The flames have spread to 26 warehouse buildings.
The Head of the Tangerang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Achmad Taufik, stated that they are currently conducting firefighting efforts and attempting to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings.
“Yes, 2t6 warehouses have been affected. It is currently being handled,” said Taufik on Wednesday.
Taufik noted that several of the burnt warehouse buildings have already suffered structural collapses.
According to data from the Tangerang Regency BPBD Operations Control Centre (Pusdalops), the fire is suspected to have originated from a spring bed warehouse located within the area.
Taufik mentioned that the reason the fire was able to spread to dozens of warehouses was due to a delay in reporting the fire to the nearest BPBD fire station.
“The report was delayed to the Kosambi Post or the Operations Control Centre,” Taufik explained.
The BPBD has deployed 30 personnel and 6 fire engines, with additional assistance from two units provided by the Soekarno-Hatta Airport authorities.
As of now, the firefighting process is still ongoing. Taufik emphasised that there have been no fatalities or injuries resulting from the fire.
The blaze has caused panic among residents in the area. Several large vehicles in the vicinity were immediately moved away from the site of the fire.
