Fire spots reappear in Mount Ciremai National Park area
The Kuningan Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in West Java, alongside a joint task force, is managing fire spots and plumes of smoke that have reappeared in the Mount Ciremai National Park (TNGC) area on Friday.
The Head of the Kuningan Regency BPBD, Indra Bayu Permana, stated that the response is focused on the Jalan Maling towards Erpah block, within the Pasawahan Resort area of the Kuningan Region I SPTN, which is adjacent to the area affected by fires on Monday (7/9).
“The location is on Jalan Maling towards Erpah. The handling of both the smoke and the fire spots is currently in progress,” Indra said in Kuningan on Friday.
He noted that the fire was observed around 2:30 PM WIB after teams conducted monitoring of the previously burnt area.
Indra explained that the reappearance of these fire spots is estimated to be related to remnants of the previous fire, which had not been completely extinguished and subsequently ignited dry land in the surrounding area.
To support the firefighting efforts, the BPBD team and other units have installed water tanks to serve as reservoirs and supply water to the points still emitting smoke or flames.
“Through attempts to spray the area using an estuary method, the BPBD team, along with TNI and Polri units from the TNGC, are installing water tanks,” Indra said.
He added that the total area of the re-burning land is still being assessed, as field teams are prioritising the immediate handling of the fire spots and smoke plumes.
Indra emphasised that monitoring remains a vital part of the post-extinguishment process to ensure no further fire spots reignite in the area.
“It may be a consequence of the previous incident because it could not be fully contained; therefore, monitoring is necessary, whether via aerial surveillance, drones, or conventional manual methods directly to the indicated smoke plumes,” he said.
Indra added that the TNGC team and joint units rediscovered indications of smoke during their monitoring, prompting immediate intervention at the site.
