Fire Re-emerges at Pisangan Waste Site, Thick Smoke Billows
A fire involving a pile of waste has occurred in the Pisangan area, East Ciputat, South Tangerang. Flames are still visible at the site of the blaze.
Observations at Jalan Tarumanegara, in front of the Pisangan Village Office on Friday (4/9/2026), showed thick smoke billowing around the location, spreading across the streets. A burnt smell is also noticeable in the vicinity, prompting several local residents to wear masks.
Firefighters are currently struggling to extinguish the flames, with several fire engines visible at the scene. It is reported that the waste pile fire in Pisangan had been extinguished last night, but the fire reignited this morning.
“The fire had been extinguished at 4:00 am, but it has reappeared this morning,” said the East Ciputat Police Chief, Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq, to reporters.
Bambang stated that all relevant parties are collaborating with local residents to extinguish the fire. He expressed concern that if the fire grows larger, the smoke could disturb residents in the housing estates near the fire site.
“Our main concern is the smoke from the fire because the area behind it is a very densely populated residential complex,” said Bambang.
“Safety is the highest law for us within the three pillars of the Ciputat and East Ciputat Districts,” he added.
