Fire razes three vessels in Manado
MANADO, North Sulawesi: Three motor boats caught fire when docking at the North Sulawesi capital of Manado, port officials said here on Monday. No human casualties were reported in the fire.
Robby Silangen, a Manado Port official, said the fire, which occurred on Sunday evening, caused more than Rp 4 billion in losses.
Two vessels KM Santa Maria and KM Mina Sejahtera were destroyed in the fire, while the other boat KM Velentine suffered only minor damages before it was saved from the fire.
It was not clear what the cause of the fire was as local authorities were investigating four boat crew, who were on duty during the incident.
According to Silangen, it was the first such incident to take place in the port of Manado. --Antara
