Fire razes garment factory

JAKARTA (JP): A fire razed a garment factory yesterday in Nusantara industrial park, located on Jl. Cilincing in North Jakarta. No fatalities were reported

North Jakarta Police Chief Lt. Col. Rismawan said the police assumed the fire, which destroyed the PT Kong Kiong Abadi complex, was caused by an electrical short circuit.

"The losses have yet to be calculated," Rismawan said.

He said the police were still questioning the company's Korean owner, Yrcho, 33, and some of his employees.

Eleven fire trucks from the North Jakarta Fire Brigade extinguished the fire, which began at 2:30 a.m., in three hours. (jun)
