Fire razes factory, warehouse

SEMARANG: Fire gutted on Saturday two buildings at the Tanjung
Emas Industrial Port, causing an estimated loss of over Rp 4
billion (US$ 1.75 million), Antara reported.

Hundreds of pieces of furniture at the warehouse belonging to
the PT Nostalgia Handcrafted Furniture company, and the
production room as well as 30 machines of the Tanjung Permai
parquet company were destroyed in the fire which began at around
4 a.m.

Antara reported that the police are still investigating the
incident, though they suspect that the fire was caused by a short
circuit in the finishing room of the parquet company.

It took seven fire engines to extinguish the fire. (swe)
