Fire razes 300 houses

SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: Fire razed around 300 houses in the city on Wednesday, leaving some 1,500 people homeless.

Houses along Jl. Imam Bonjol and Jl. Kapuas were gutted by the fire which was believed to have started when a stove exploded in one of the houses.

An elementary school, two photo studios, an optical shop and a number of offices were among the structures destroyed by fire, according to Antara.

It took seven fire brigades to extinguish the fire. (05)
