Fire razes 30 homes in Tanah Tinggi, Central Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department recorded that approximately 30 homes in the Tanah Tinggi sub-district, Central Jakarta, were razed by fire in the early hours of Thursday.
“The affected buildings consist of 30 residential units,” said the Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department, Syarifudin, in Jakarta, Thursday.
According to him, the fire that destroyed approximately 30 homes occurred on Thursday at around 00:15 WIB on Jalan Tanah Tinggi IV, RT 009/RW 007, Tanah Tinggi sub-district, Johar Baru district, Central Jakarta.
Syarifudin said that officers received a report of the fire incident at 00:15 WIB. Then, at 00:20 WIB, officers began fire fighting operations.
About an hour later, at 01:35 WIB, officers managed to contain the fire, and the operation was declared complete at 04:24 WIB.
“We deployed 23 fire trucks and 140 personnel, divided into two stages,” said Syarifudin.
Meanwhile, he said that the suspected cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the area affected by the fire is known to be approximately 250 square meters.
Syarifudin confirmed that all victims, totaling 240 people from 60 families, are safe.
“According to the chronology of events, at around 00:00 WIB, the resident of the house, which is suspected to be the source of the fire, woke up because he felt the heat from the room where he was sleeping on the second floor. When he woke up, the fire was already large, so he went to save himself,” explained Syarifudin.
