Fire razed the 4th floor of a tax building

JAKARTA: Fire destroyed the fourth floor of the Taxation Agency building in Jl. H.R Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, on Sunday but there were no reports of casualties.

According to an official from the fire department in South Jakarta, Sodara Pandu, it was still investigating the cause of the fire which occurred at 5.20 p.m. on Sunday.

By the time the blaze was extinguished at 6.10 p.m., it had destroyed the fourth floor and its entire contents, Pandu said.

"We reached the scene not too long after it was reported, therefore, we managed to stop the fire before it spread to the other floors," he said.

South Jakarta fire department dispatched nine fire fighting units to tackle the fire.

He did not say whether the fire was deliberately set or not.

Recently, the Trade and Industry Department building near Gambir railway station in Central Jakarta was reportedly set on fire in an act of sabotage. --JP
